At least we do have ID-Cards (Personalausweis) and donīt hand out driving licenses to blind people instead...

Stil, I can understand the temptation of the guy. Some while back I heard that Ray Charles loves to fly aeroplanes. Thereīs nothing wrong with it as long as somebody else is around the cockpit and does the tricky parts like takeoff and landing.

OTOH, as long as our social security system was on a high level, blindness could be a very attractive thing. I remember a young client pretending being blind and claiming for a pension. She was so good an actor that she managed to get a guide-dog (for free!) and once she was at my office she ran into the wall pretending she couldnīt find the open door. She was really great in doing such things.
A couple of months later, when things were set, I happened to meet her at the local Wal-Mart, looking for deep frozen stuff and reading the levels on the items (no, it was not her dog reading them for her, and no glasses whatsoever). She wasnīt happy meeting me there since she had noticed I had watched her for a couple of minutes before.
Maybe it was just another mysterious healing however....
btw. I was always wondering if rush-hour would be easier to manage if I just painted a big yellow stripe with three black dots on it across the hood of my car...
